Job Summary: 

Located in Toronto, the HR Lead will provide HR leadership and expertise in support of NYGÅRD's mission, vision and values internationally for our China Fashion Centre located in Shanghai. The HR Lead will oversee legal compliance, recruitment and selection, workforce metrics, corporate communications and special projects. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Deliver operational advice and service to managers and staff

  • Lead the international HR service delivery function in the Chinese region

  • Lead research on policies and programs including maintaining policy manuals, ensuring compliance with Chinese legislation & regulations at all levels, and modifying existing policies as required after legal review

  • Handle project engagement initiatives to assist in building collaborative international process

  • Proactively review practices and operational performance metrics, and develop strategies and initiatives to increase capability, effectiveness and efficiencies

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications: 

  • 3+ YRS experience in an HR Leadership Role

  • Knowledge of the Canada Labor Code, Provincial Labour Standards, and Federal & Provincial Human Rights Legislation

  • Fluent in Mandarin both written and verbal combined with strong knowledge of Chinese Employment Rules and Procedures 

  • Demonstrated competency in Recruitment, HR Information Systems, Compensation, Benefits, and Employee Relations is an asset

  • Computer literacy in MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)

  • Strong project / time management abilities and problem solving skills

Education/Experience: 

  • Post Secondary Degree / Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce, or Industrial Relations or equivalent education and experience
